Poll Position: Ole Miss stays steady in the latest rankings with first SEC road win
Saturday was yet another example in a long line of Ole Miss – Vanderbilt football games. A slow, in fact very slow, start by the Rebels was followed by a second half surge that has been rare this season.
Still, Ole Miss pulled out the win to get to 6-0 (2-0 in the Southeastern Conference) at the halfway point of the season, bowl eligible and on to bigger and better things.
Due to that, and not much excitement or shakeup in the Top 10 on Saturday, Ole Miss stays steady as the consensus No. 9 team in the country. The Rebels did not move up or slide down after cracking the Top 10 last weekend following the Kentucky win.
On Sunday there was plenty of shifting in the Associated Press Poll while the USA Today AFCA Coaches Poll stayed steady.
Alabama (6-0, 3-0), Georgia (6-0, 3-0), Ohio State (6-0), Michigan (6-0) and Clemson (6-0) stayed the Top 5 in the Coaches Poll. Southern California (6-0), Oklahoma State (5-0), Tennessee (5-0) and Penn State (5-0) round out the Top 10 sandwiched around Ole Miss.

The AP Poll’s Top 10 saw a little change with the Crimson Tide sliding down two spots to No. 3 despite surviving a late scare by Texas A&M. The Bulldogs and Buckeyes slide up a spot while Clemson and Michigan swapped spots to round out the Top 5.
The Volunteers moved up two spots to No. 6, bumping USC and Oklahoma State down to No. 7 and 8, respectively. Penn State remained at No. 10.
Ole Miss returns home this Saturday when they host Auburn (3-3, 1-2) at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN. The Rebels opened as a 13.5-point favorite over the Tigers, who are coming off a 42-10 loss at Georgia this weekend.
