Ole Miss coupled a terrific performance by freshman left-handed starting pitcher Hunter Elliott with a solid offensive night and beat Missouri 8-1 to claim the critical series at Swayze Field this weekend.

The Rebels, who also won 7-5 on Friday night, improved to 26-19 overall and 9-14 in Southeastern Conference play. The Tigers are now 25-19 and 7-16. Ole Miss is now tied with South Carolina in the SEC standings in its mad dash to reach the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. All but two two teams in the league make it ever year.

Ole Miss is a half-game ahead of Kentucky, of which it also holds the tiebreaker. South Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi State have the tiebreaker over Ole Miss. Alabama and Mississippi State, like Ole MIss, are jockeyingfor the final tournament spots.
