Rebel Rewind: Ole Miss has won first 10 games in a season for fourth time in program history
Ole Miss used a career-best offensive effort from veteran forward Jaemyn Brakefield to score a season-best 88 points in a win over Cal in the 2023 Hall of Fame Series in San Antonio on Saturday.
And with the win, the Rebels are riding the sixth-best overall winning streak in program history. They’ve won each of their first 10 games in a season for just the fourth time ever.
First-year head coach Chris Beard has now led three separates programs to 10-0 starts to open a season in his career. Another was his 2018-19 Texas Tech Red Raiders. They reached the NCAA Tournament Championship Game.
Brakefield had 27 points on a career-high five made threes. Ole Miss, as a team, shot 50 percent from both the field and three-point line. Senior guard Matthew Murrell scored 19 to move ahead of Jason Harrison and Coolidge Ball to No. 37 in Ole Miss all-time career points (1,084 total points).
