Rebel Roundabout: Ole Miss sending seven to Paris for Olympics; Lynn reaches 2,000 Ks
Ole Miss baseball legend Lance Lynn on Tuesday became the sixth active pitcher in Major League Baseball to reach 2,000 strikeouts.
Lynn, in his 13th season, hit the milestone against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lynn gave up four hits and three walks over five scoreless innings of an eventual 2-1 win for his St. Louis Cardinals. He struck out two.
The 37-year-old Lynn has now held opponents to two runs or fewer in four of his last five outings. He’s 5-3 on the year with a 4.17 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 94:40 K:BB across 101.1 innings.
Lynn starred for Ole Miss from 2006-08 and set a new single-season school record for strikeouts (146). He finished for 332 for his career. He was twice named All-SEC and pitched to a cumulative 3.95 ERA.
He’s played for six different MLB teams since his debut with the Cardinals back in 2011. He was an All-Star in 2012.
