Rebels go under the lights + the other sights and scenes from Ole Miss’ third week of camp
Ole Miss football over the last few days has been back at work in what is its third week of preseason training camp.
The Rebels will open the 2023 season against Mercer on September 2. They’re entering their fourth season under head coach Lane Kiffin, who led them to the postseason in each of his first three seasons.
Among the notable takeaways from practice so far has been Jaxson Dart’s continued hold on QB1 despite the added competition of off-season transfer additions Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard.
“The challenge is we have four guys who are high-caliber players and we have to get all four ready to play. We have to give them all an opportunity to show us and their teammates what they can do,” Ole Miss co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Charlie Weis, Jr., said last week.

“Being able to manage those reps and opportunities for those guys has been a challenge, but it’s been a fun room to work with. I commend them for how they’ve handled the competition.”
Injuries have been a problem for the Rebels, but true freshman Ayden Williams has impressed, and the Rebel defense under first-year coordinator Pete Golding appears to be coming together a bit faster than most probably expected.
