Report: Chris Kiffin returning to Ole Miss to join brother, Lane Kiffin's staff
Ole Miss is continuing to be a family affair as head coach Lane Kiffin is set to be reunited with his brother, Chris Kiffin, in Oxford.
According to a report from ESPN’s Chris Low on Sunday, Chris is returning to Ole Miss in an analyst role. This is a third return to Oxford for Kiffin and second in the last two years. In 2022 Lane hired his brother as the new defensive coordinator, replacing a departing DJ Durkin, but a month later Chris left to return to the Cleveland Browns where he was the defensive line coach.
Prior to the short stint in 2022 Chris was at Ole Miss on Hugh Freeze’s staff from 2012 to 2016 as the defensive line coach. He also served as a graduate assistant in 2007 on Ed Orgeron’s staff.
The brothers Kiffin are also back together on the same staff for a second time as Chris was Lane’s defensive coordinator at Florida Atlantic in 2017 before joining the San Francisco 49ers as a pass-rush specialists from 2018 to 2019.

“I think he’s been a lot of places and ran our defense at FAU when we were really good that year,” said Lane Kiffin of is brother’s hire in 2022. “He then went to the NFL since then, learned at a lot of different places, had really good players, so that makes it easy to recruit to. Having been here before when they were really good, I think is really good for him recruiting for players to know, ‘Hey, OK, he coached these guys who were here before. I’m glad for that.'”
Last month, Lane and Chris’ father, Monte Kiffin, died at the age of 84. Monte was part of Lane’s staff since he was hired at Ole Miss in 2019 and served as a defensive analyst. Now Lane has his brother working in the same capacity for the 2024 season.
