San Diego State transfer pitcher Marko Sipila commits to Ole Miss Baseball

Ole Miss Baseball landed a commitment from San Diego State right-handed pitcher Marko Sipila, he announced. The 6-4, 205-pound Sipila has one year of eligibility remaining.

He pitched to a 3.91 ERA over 71.1 innings last season and features a four-pitch mix of fastball (90-93 mph), splitter (82-85), slider (81-85) and curveball (75-78). Sipila had a 74:25 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 2025.

Sipila, who began his career at Colorado-Colorado Springs, visited the Rebels this week and left Thursday. He brings their overall haul to five commitments from the NCAA Transfer Portal. 

Overall, the Rebels are in a far better position than last year with regards to the transfer portal. Mike Bianco’s staff didn’t have to overhaul the group too much.

“It’s been really good,” Ole Miss hitting coach Mike Clement told the Ole Miss Spirit in assessing the Rebels’ haul so far. “I think we feel we have a pretty solid chance to get a good baseline and core back from last year’s team. So, a little bit different from the chaos of last season, where you felt you were building it a little more from the ground floor. We’re in a better spot with what we feel like we have.”
