Spirit On the Scene: What we learned from ‘Juice Fest,’ the Ole Miss recruiting event of the summer
In this edition of Talk of Champions, Ben Garrett and Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit/On3 have a full report from ‘Juice Fest,’ the last major recruiting event of the summer for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss football.
The weekend has been productive enough so far. Ole Miss has landed two new commitments, including an upside linebacker transfer from Clemson who could slide into the two-deep immediately.
Here’s a brief excerpt from the extended conversation.
BEN: Ole Miss landed a commitment on Saturday from Malik Willis’ little brother, Marquis, and also picked up a commitment from Clemson transfer linebacker TJ Dudley.
So, it’s been a productive weekend.
ZACH: Dudley was a consensus four-star coming out of high school (and) signed with Clemson. Oregon really wanted him out of high school. I feel safe saying that (Oregon head coach and former Georgia defensive coordinator) Dan Lanning knows a thing or two about defense. He really liked him, but he went to Clemson. Was dismissed, I believe, for a violation of team rules.

We don’t know the details; doesn’t matter. But played in a couple of games last year. Played in their bowl game against Tennessee. He was in line to be in the two-deep for sure and fighting for a starting job this year for Clemson.
BEN: So if he gets a waiver (from the NCAA), he’s got starter potential?
ZACH: I think so. He’s going to definitely be in the two-deep. Just think of a linebacker room that has Suntarine Perkins and TJ Dudley in it.
