Spirit Spotlight: Ole Miss’ Tre Harris gets real about the Rebel QBs, his transfer journey and more
In this edition of Talk of Champions, Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit/On3 is joined by Rebel wide receiver Tre Harris.
Harris details his decision to transfer from Louisiana Tech and the second recruitment process that led him to Ole Miss. He also has thoughts on the Rebels’ deep and talented quarterback and wide receiver rooms — namely the leadership traits of incumbent quarterback starter Jaxson Dart, as well as the potential of true freshman wideout Ayden Williams.
Williams is taking No. 1 as his jersey number, which follows in the footsteps of such all-time Ole Miss wide receiver greats as AJ Brown, Laquon Treadwell and Jonathan Mingo.
“I’m glad he’s putting on No. 1,” Harris said of Williams. “He’s definitely going to live up to it, ‘cause that kid’s got some talent that can’t be taught.”
Harris last season had 65 receptions for 935 yards and 10 touchdowns for Louisiana Tech.
He was named a first-team All-Conference USA selection. Harris earned honorable mention all-league honors the year prior.

He estimated he received around 25-30 offers once he entered the NCAA Transfer Portal last fall. Harris committed to the Rebels two days before last Christmas, choosing Ole Miss over Oklahoma, Texas and Penn State.
“(The SEC) was one of the biggest factors,” said Harris, who was ranked by Pro Football Focus in May as the highest-graded returning receiver in the SEC. “Another was (Rebel head) coach (Lane) Kiffin. He puts guys in the league, especially receivers.
“Ole Miss, the university itself is known for putting receivers in the league. It was everything I was really asking for. Who wouldn’t want to play for Lane Kiffin?”
