Rebel Rewind: Ole Miss softball needs two wins over Utah to stay alive in the postseason
Ole Miss softball advanced to the Utah Regional final with its second straight win over No. 18 Baylor on Saturday.
A four-run first-inning explosion and a dominant outing from pitcher Catelyn Riley led the way in a 9-2 win. The Rebels hit for the cycle as a team in the opening frame, but they did all their scoring damage with two outs. Lexie Brady got the rally started with an RBI triple. Keila Kamoku later crushed a two-run homer.
The Rebels book-ended the night with a four-run sixth.
They took advantage of two Baylor errors to score a run and extend the inning. Paige Smith, with the bases loaded, brought home three with a double.
Ole Miss next squares off against host Utah on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT and 3:30 p.m. Ole Miss has to win twice to advance to Super Regionals.
