Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit (OMSpirit.com) rides solo in this wintry edition of The Flagship, presented by RiverLand Roofing, and coming to you from a snowy, if mostly-sleet-covered, North Mississippi.

It’s cold outside, but Lane Kiffin’s football Rebels remain scorching hot in the transfer portal. Ole Miss over the weekend secured commitments from South Alabama cornerback Yam Banks and Virginia Tech tight end Dae’Quan Wright.

The Rebels are showing no signs of slowing down, either.

They’ve put together the No. 3 transfer class so far, according to On3, and their average player rating (83.50) is the highest in the nation. Two members of their 14-transfer haul are ranked in the Top 10 of On3’s transfer player rankings.

Leading the way is Texas A&M defensive tackle Walter Nolen, the portal’s No. 1 overall player. Florida EDGE Princely Umanmielen (No. 6) is the other.

“They’ve built one of the best classes I think we’ve seen in the last couple of years,” On3 portal expert Pete Nakos exclusively told the Spirit on Monday. “Obviously Colorado and Louisville have been good, but Ole Miss’ class is as deep as anyone’s out there, from Walter Nolen to Logan Diggs. Just a lot of talent.”

This all-new Flagship highlights three sleeper Ole Miss transfers, including a pair of cornerbacks in Banks and Illinois’ Taz Nicholson. Their additions have been made that much more important after the Rebels surprisingly lost Mississippi State transfer Decamerion Richardson to the NFL Draft.
