Tre Harris an early Biletnikoff Award favorite as he enters year two with the Ole Miss offense.
Stability and consistency is a rare thing in college football these days with coaching changes at rapid paces as well as the wild west atmosphere that is the transfer portal. Yet, the Ole Miss offense is one of those rare teams this season.
For a third fifth straight year the offense is under the guidance of head coach Lane Kiffin and a third straight year under offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, Jr. Considered one of the potentially potent offenses in the country this Fall, those are two factors that play huge dividends for success.
For quarterback Jaxson Dart and Tre Harris it is a situation that cannot be overstated enough. Having the same authors of the playbook a third year for Dart and a second season for Harris is allowing preseason camp to be a more free experience for each.
“I’m definitely hoping so,” Harris said when asked by The Ole Miss Spirit if he is going to get more freedom in the playbook this year.
“It’s all up to my coaches and the game plan they set out for us. I’m going to go out there and execute to the best of my ability. I’m definitely hoping to be put in more positions to always (give) the defense different looks. Whether that’s me being a decoy or that’s me getting the ball.”
Success by both will determine how individual success off the field transpires when it comes to end of the year awards. Dart, a Heisman Trophy candidate and Harris considered one of the top receivers in the country.
Watchlists for all of these position awards are rolling out and in August they mean very little. Kiffin even categorized them as “crap” this week with nearly every receiver or *insert position player here* on each of the preseason watch lists.
