Ole Miss football in 2016 produced the most first-round NFL Draft selections (3) in school history.

The Rebels could match that feat, if not surpass it, in 2025.

Ole Miss has three players ranked among the draft’s Top 50 prospects, according to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah. Defensive tackle Walter Nolen is the highest of all Rebels (No. 28), while quarterback Jaxson Dart has climbed to No. 36.

Cornerback Trey Amos is No. 42. He’s been floated as a mid-to-late selection since he officially declared in January.

“Currently have been doing a lot of Zoom meetings,” Amos said in an interview this week with NFL Network. “Starting Sunday I’ll be having a lot of visits coming up. Looking forward to that and getting to know the coaches, the owners and whole staff. I’m just trying to attack it day by day.”

Amos is one of just 14 defensive backs taller than 6-feet to run a 4.43 40-yard dash or faster since 2003. He’s got an upcoming pre-draft visit to the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, as well as the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers on Friday hosted Dart for a Top 30 visit, his last of the pre-draft process.

“You’re going to see a lot of being physical at the line of scrimmage against wide receivers,” Amos said, when asked the type of player an NFL team will be getting. “Being a technician. I feel like I’m a box of all traits. I can play man, I can play zone and do it all. Just going out there and showing what I can do. Be on the lookout.”

Amos was an All-American, along with Nolen, in a one-and-done Ole Miss season.

He transferred over from Alabama last off-season and also played previously at Louisiana. Amos started all 13 games for Ole Miss in 2024-25. He finished with 50 tackles, three interceptions, 13 pass break-ups, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

“It shows a lot,” Amos said of his three-school college journey. “Mental toughness. It was a long journey. It taught me patience, and at the end, I just wanted to have fun my last year. But I learned so much through UL, ‘Bama and Ole Miss. All three schools built me. I found a way. I knew my time was coming and proceeded to do what I have to do.”

What he’s done is positioned himself well to become a first-round pick.

Eli Manning is the only Rebel to go No. 1 overall. Ole Miss last had a first-rounder in 2017 with Evan Engram. The Rebels have produced 315 NFL Draft picks in program history. Three were taken last season, the fourth draft in a row with multiple Rebels.

The most draftees Ole Miss has had in a single class in the last 25 years is six.

The Rebels have done so twice, including 2019, which featured second-rounders AJ Brown and DK Metcalf. Neither is still with their original team, however. Brown was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Eagles. Metcalf this off-season was dealt from the Seattle Seahawks to the Steelers.

The most Rebels drafted in a single year is nine, which twice came before drafts were limited to seven rounds.

“I really look up to Pat Surtain,” Amos said. Surtain was the 2024 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year. “I really love how smooth he is, rarely gets beat. Always on top and looking smooth. He’s very efficient. I try to model my game as him and put everything in my toolbox.

“Everybody’s different, but I just do my best to be a great technician at the end of the day.”
