Turnage can’t stop thinking about upcoming debut for hometown Ole Miss Rebels
Oxford, Mississippi, native Brandon Turnage will run out of the tunnel as an Ole Miss Rebel in less than two weeks.
The hometown kid will finally have returned home — and after a nomadic career with multiple SEC stops.
“I think about that every single day of the week,” Turnage said of his approaching Ole Miss debut.
Turnage is spending his final season of college eligibility with the Rebels. He grew up in their back yard as a star two-way player at Lafayette High School.
Turnage spent two years and played in a national title at Alabama. He left for Tennessee, where he had 48 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and an interception. He appeared in 12 games last season and finished with nine tackles.
“A lot of plays are going to be made in (the Ole Miss cornerback) room,” Turnage said. “No matter who you got on the field you know it’s always going to be a playmaker out there.”

Ole Miss loaded up on defensive backs over a busy off-season in the transfer portal.
Along with Turnage, Ole Miss brought in Trey Amos (Alabama), Yam Banks (South Alabama), Key Lawrence (Oklahoma), Isaiah Hamilton (Houston) and Louis Moore (Indiana).
Turnage played safety and corner at Tennessee. The majority of his snaps came in the slot. Ole Miss has at corner, though where he ultimately ends up, and the role he plays, is still very much up in the air.
He’s spent most of camp on the sideline due to injury.
“It’s been fun (back at corner) because my freshman and sophomore years at Alabama all I really played was corner,” Turnage said. “I want to line up whenever I’m needed. I try to know everything so I’m prepared if I have to played somewhere else.”
Turnage, fifth-year Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and Washington transfer offensive lineman Nate Kalepo all held court with local media after practice on Monday.
