Two-minute drill! A quick breakdown on the day in Ole Miss football
Ole Miss football is now 25 days away from kicking off the 2022 season.
So close, yet so far away.
To commemorate, the Rebels, on Tuesday, practiced in full pads for the first time in fall camp.
“Some good, hot days and a lot of really hard work out there,” Now third-year Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said in his post-practice meeting with local reporters.
“This is really the grind time (of camp), where we got a lot of stuff in on them mentally, the physical toll and with the way that we practice and style we practice in. That’s an adjustment for a number of these transfers, which was to be expected. I think they’re plugging along and doing well. Obviously we’ve got a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be.”
Ole Miss, which was 10-3 last season, is now in its second week of camp.
The Rebels were also recently ranked No. 24 in the preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll.
However, Kiffin said the team is “probably not where we’d want to be normally” at this stage of August due to the high number of new players, specifically in the form of one of the most decorated NCAA Transfer Portal classes in the country.
“Your new guys, usually, are at the bottom,” Kiffin said. “You’ve got a lot of new guys that have played a lot. We expect them to play, and that’s why they’re here.

“It’s a work in progress, really, on both sides. You can look out there and see, easily, half the guys out there going against each other are portal guys. I thought about (during a play today), that guy was just playing for Auburn (Ladarius Tennison) and is covering a player from Mississippi State (Malik Heath). It’s just the world we’re in.”
