The defending-champion Ole Miss baseball team finally has an SEC series win this season.

The Rebels on Sunday walked off Georgia, 8-7, in game three to take the weekend series. Ole Miss is now 23-21 overall and 5-16 in the SEC. The Bulldogs fell to 24-20 (8-13).

Georgia scored two runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game at seven runs apiece. However, in the bottom half, veteran Rebel outfielder TJ McCants singled to score pinch-runner Judd Utermark from third on a close play at the plate.

Freshman right-hander Grayson Saunier gave a desperate Ole Miss pitching staff his best start of the season. Saunier went six complete innings and allowed just one earned run on two hits with six strikeouts. He didn’t walk any of his 20 batters faced.

Rebel third baseman Ethan Lege was 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Rebels.

Senior second baseman Peyton Chatagnier was 2 for 4 with a home run and an RBI. Veteran slugger Kemp Alderman was 2 for 5 with an RBI, and star shortstop Jacob Gonzalez was 1 for 3 with a two-run homer.

Ole Miss hosts Arkansas-Little Rock on Tuesday at 11 a.m., then travels to Missouri for a Thursday through Saturday series against the Tigers. Ole Miss and Missouri are tied in SEC play heading into the month of May.
