WATCH: Ole Miss football gets in final tune-up before spring-ending ‘Grove Bowl Games’
Fourteen practices down, just one left to go for Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss football Rebels.
The Rebels worked inside the Manning Center on Thursday (April 11, 2024), just as they did on Tuesday. The two practices are the last of their kind for Ole Miss this spring.
“I’m loving the defense,” South Alabama transfer defensive back Yam Banks said afterwards. He was one of two players who met the media. The other was Oklahoma transfer safety Key Lawrence.
“Trying to learn different positions (and) play everywhere in the secondary. I’m trying to make myself uncomfortable. Learning plays faster and quicker. It’s definitely showing. It’s like the NFL. As soon as you come here, you’ll get to that next level.”

All that remains is the rebranded ‘Grove Bowl Games’ on Saturday.
The Rebels will hold a team-wide 7-on-7, but also mixed in will be hot-dog-eating and dunk contests, an obstacle course and more fan-friendly events.

“We didn’t have a big announcement,” Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said this week of the Grove Bowl format. “We drafted leadership (and) split the offense and defense. I explained to them and kind of threw ideas out with them, too. We’re really excited about it. It’ll be fun but competitive, too. If you win the dunk competition you get a certain number of points and so on.”
Included are highlights from the Rebels’ work on Thursday.
