WATCH: Ole Miss introduces Chris Beard as new men's basketball coach
Ole Miss on Tuesday formerly introduced Chris Beard as the 23rd head coach in the history of Rebel men’s basketball.
Myriad Rebel fans piled into one side of The SJB Pavilion to welcome Beard, formerly of Texas and Texas Tech. He was officially welcomed to by athletics director Keith Carter.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Beard and his daughters, Avery, Ella and Margo, to the Ole Miss family,” Carter said, in announcing the hire earlier this week. “Coach Beard is one of the top coaches in the nation. It was evident he is the right person to guide our team to greatness.
“Coach Beard has proven to be a program builder and a dynamic leader. He is a tireless recruiter and develops talent to reach their greatest potential. Coach Beard is a winner, and Ole Miss basketball’s best years are ahead of us under his leadership.”

Beard has led three different programs to the NCAA Tournament since 2016.
He took Texas Tech to the National Championship game (2019) and Elite Eight (2018) in separate seasons.
Beard owns a 237-98 record as a head coach, which is one of the top winning percentages (70.7) among active coaches in all of college basketball.
