WATCH: Ole Miss' Kemp Alderman, Ferris Trophy winner and destroyer of baseballs
Most would probably rather soon forget Ole Miss baseball’s abysmal 2023 season and national title defense.
Everyone but Rebel slugger Kemp Alderman.
Ole Miss limped to its first losing season since 1997. The Rebels lost each of their last six games and eight of their last 11. Alderman, however, was a constant and one of the lone bright spots.
He led the team in nearly every offensive category. As a result, Alderman, on Monday, was named the winner of the 2023 Ferriss Trophy, presented annually to the most outstanding player in college baseball in Mississippi.
He’s the first Rebel to win the award since Austin Bausfield in 2014.
“It’s a honor,” Alderman said during the ceremony. “Thank you to (Ole Miss head) coach B(ianco) for recruiting me out of high school and giving me a chance to play at my dream school.”
