WATCH: ‘Two great challenges,’ including top-ranked South Carolina, on deck for Ole Miss
Ole Miss women’s basketball was reeling a bit coming off a loss to in-state rival Mississippi State about two weeks ago.
But the Rebels have since won three straight and are barreling towards a third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Ole Miss last pulled off such a streak in 1994-96. The Rebels (15-5, 5-2 SEC) most recently beat Tennessee (12-7, 5-2) for just the third time in history and first time since 2017.
The two teams are now tied for second in the SEC, though Ole Miss owns the tiebreaker.
“Big win for us (over Tennessee),” Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin said Tuesday. “With Vandy on the road and South Carolina, all of us are kind of in the same pack together right now. For the next 48 hours, we’re in second place, but that will be short-lived regardless ‘cause there’s so much more basketball to go.”
Ole Miss plays at Vanderbilt and at top-ranked South Carolina on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.
Tipoff in Nashville, home to the Commodores, is 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+. South Carolina (19-0, 7-0) sits atop the SEC and hosts the Rebels at 1 p.m. CT. Vanderbilt (17-4 (4-3) is fifth.

“Both Vandy and South Carolina are playing very good basketball,” McPhee-McCuin said. “Different styles. Vandy is more systematic (and) smaller. South Carolina, one of the best teams in the country, if not the best team in the country. It’s always been a tough place to play.
“I think I’ve only had one win at Vandy. If you look at the numbers, we haven’t had a lot of wins at Vandy historically. It’s just a really tough place to play. It’ll be a great two games, but two great challenges.”
McPhee-McCuin was joined for the media session by veteran forward Madison Scott and transfer guard Kennedy Todd-Williams. Here’s everything they had to say.
