‘We’ve got to move on’: Alabama sting still fresh, but Lane Kiffin says it’s time for Ole Miss to focus on Arkansas
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin didn’t even try to hid his frustration following the Rebels’ 30-24 loss to Alabama over the weekend.
He was more calm in his assessment on Monday during his weekly press conference.
“This is the last time we have to talk about it,” Kiffin said. “I was very frustrated after the game. Explaining to the players today, I think that’s the thing about experience and as you get older. They don’t usually understand what they’re going through and what that moment is and how rare that moment may be.
“So, I was just frustrated for our players to be that close, to have the ball in your hands against Alabama controlling the outcome. If you take some time off the clock and score, you beat Alabama. That’s a rare thing. I told them today, I was in that situation 13 years ago. Ball in our hands at Tennessee, going down to kick a field goal to beat Alabama. Doesn’t happen very often, so that’s why there was a lot of frustration.

“Probably with what they say with the SEC scheduling change coming up, Ole Miss and Alabama’s not going to play every year. Even less of a chance for those things to happen. That’s frustrating as you watch the film and see all the missed opportunities.”
The Rebels (8-2, 4-2 SEC) next travel to Arkansas (5-5, 2-4) on Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. CT showdown on the SEC Network.
Kiffin added, “We’ve got to move on. Arkansas is a very talented team that, really, in a lot of ways outplayed LSU Saturday. Really had a bunch of chances with backup quarterbacks to beat LSU. That tells you a lot about how good they play at times and how good they just played Saturday. Difficult place to play at night. We’ve got to get back on track and have a really good week.”
Here’s everything Kiffin had to say, in a video provided by Ole Miss Sports Production.
