Where is Ole Miss slotted to head in the postseason after Week 2 bowl projections?
The college football season is only two weeks old (three if you count Week Zero) but the postseason discussions and predictions are already rolling in for Ole Miss.
Bowl game projections in mid-September are not a barometer of anything, similar to the preseason projections released last month. But it does not stop people from making them, which in turn is still fun to look at and discuss.
No. 20 Ole Miss (2-0) is off to the start it is expected to have after beginning the season against Troy and Central Arkansas. The Rebels first road trip is this weekend in Atlanta when they take on Georgia Tech (1-1) at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
Despite the chaos that was Week 2 Ole Miss’ postseason fate did not alter much in the latest projections.
Texas, Florida and Tennessee are still popular landing spots for the Rebels in December. Las Vegas, which was projected in the preseason by ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Yahoo Sports / College Football News is currently not in the cards.
In fact, both Bonagura and CFN now have Ole Miss in the Sunshine State but in different cities.
Bonagura projected the Rebels for the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in Jacksonville on Dec. 30 while CFN has them back in Tampa for the ReliaQuest Bowl against Minnesota on Jan. 2.

ESPN’s Mark Schlabach continues to have Ole Miss projected to head to the Lone Star state, playing in Houston at the TaxAct Texas Bowl. Schlabach projected Iowa State would be the Rebels opponent in his preseason guess but now has Kansas State playing in the Dec. 28 game at NRG Stadium.
Jerry Palm of CBS Sports also has Ole Miss slotted in the Texas Bowl, but playing Iowa State.
Sports Illustrated’s Richard Johnson did have the Rebels playing in Orlando against Penn State in the Citrus Bowl as his preseason pick. Johnson’s guess has drastically changed two weeks into the season, though.
Johnson now has Ole Miss closer to home, playing at the Music City Bowl in Nashville against Minnesota on New Year’s Eve.
Again, the season is very young and very few games of consequence have been played. Ole Miss has yet to play any conference games and these projections will change probably thirty more times between now and bowl selection day on Dec. 4.
