Which game does ESPN say will define the 2025 season for Ole Miss?

Ole Miss is just a month and a half removed from concluding its 2024 season with a win in the Gator Bowl over Duke, but football never sleeps and looking ahead is always happening.
With that in mind the 2025 football schedules are already being analyzed and scrutinized. Next Fall is a familiar 12-game path for the Rebels with the same eight Southeastern Conference opponents as last season only reversing the home and away locations.
Offseason is in full swing and Spring practices are about a month away from starting so ESPN decided to take a look at which game could define the season for each of its way-too-early Top 25. Ole Miss was No. 25, meaning one of its 12 games is under the microscope.
But which game was selected? A rematch that will probably pick at a scab for fans of the Rebels.
The November 15 game between Ole Miss and Florida is the one that ESPN feels could once again dictate the way the Rebels postseason could play out.
Everybody knows how last year’s showdown in Gainesville played out with the Gators getting the 24-17 upset victory and ending the College Football Playoff hopes for Ole Miss.

Nearly a year later to the day the Rebels host Florida with the chance for revenge and ESPN’s Andrea Adelson agrees it could be another CFP-altering game for the home team.
“Where they tripped up was against teams that they should have beaten, and that ultimately cost them a spot in the CFP,” Adelson writes. “This is why I’m going with a bit of a wild card — vs. Florida on Nov. 15. That third loss in 2024 to the Gators is what did in the Rebels. Based on the way the 12-team playoff went in Year 1, it stands to reason that getting at least 10 wins will either lead to an SEC championship game appearance or possible at-large playoff spot. …So I am going to project that Ole Miss will be in position for another playoff run by the time it plays the Gators.”
Adelson also notes Ole Miss beat Georgia last year and gets South Carolina and LSU at home in 2025, giving way to the idea next Fall could be another special run. The Rebels travel to Athens next season and play the Bulldogs for a third straight season.
Other SEC road trips include a first time visit to Norman to play Oklahoma on October 25 plus heading to Lexington in what is another revenge game against Kentucky to open up SEC play the second week of the season on September 6.
