Yolett McPhee-McCuin continuing to add to Ole Miss with another transfer portal commitment
This past weekend saw the first move made by Ole Miss women’s basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin out the transfer portal and things continued this week.
After landing guard DeeDee Hageman from Michigan State on Saturday there was little downtime spent by McCuin as she got another portal commitment on Wednesday.
Forward Starr Jacobs announced her decision to come to Ole Miss via Arkansas Pine Bluff. Jacobs posted a video to her X account to make the commitment official.
Prior to joining UAPB, Jacobs spent two years at University of Texas at Arlington. The 6-foot-2 forward sat her one season with the Lions.
“Starr is just that… a star! Talented player that will impact our program immediately!” said McPhee-McCuin in a statement. “She is versatile and a true competitor! She makes us better immediately and we are excited that she is joining us!”

In her final season with UT Arlington (2022-23) she averaged 18.1 points and 8.8 rebounds and three assists per game. Jacobs was the 2022-23 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
Ole Miss is building out its roster to compliment the three starters that are set to return next season.
Forward Madison Scott and guards KK Deans and Kennedy Todd-Williams have already announced their plans to play one final season in Oxford in a bid to get to the NCAA Tournament for a fourth consecutive season.
The addition of Jacobs provides more length for Ole Miss to pair with Scott and the guard play of Hagemann will provide more offense along with Todd-Williams and Deans, who is coming off a season-ending injury in November.
“I’m incredibly excited about the addition of DeeDee, McPhee-McCuin said in an official statement on Saturday. “I was able to form a relationship with her and her family during Covid, so we picked up right where we left off once she went into the portal. DeeDee is a dynamic guard that can score but loves to facilitate and set her teammates up for success. She’s also a competitor that will fit right into our defensive system.”
