3-2-1: Previewing Oral Roberts ahead of Eugene Super Regional
Oregon is two wins away from reaching its first College World Series since 1954. After sweeping their way through the Nashville Regional last weekend, the Ducks are now set to host the Eugene Super Regional, where they will hope to secure a trip to Omaha for the first time in modern program history. Standing in their way is Oral Roberts (49-11) who entered the NCAA Tournament as one of the hottest teams in the nation and proceeded to notch three wins in as many days at the Stillwater Regional. The No. 4-seeded Golden Eagles notched wins over host Oklahoma State, No. 3 Washington, and No. 2 Dallas Baptist last weekend. While Oral Roberts will arrive in Eugene as perceived underdogs, Oregon head coach Mark Wasikowski and his staff know that they will have their hands full this weekend. "The people in the Midwest sure don't think Oral Roberts is an underdog," Wasikowski said on Wednesday. "Those people talk really highly of them. ... The bottom line is, these are two good baseball teams that have earned the right to be in this thing. And whoever was picked to do what, there are a lot of teams that were picked to do a lot of things this year that are now on summer vacation. We're not on summer vacation. And boy, we're going to try to make sure we're not on summer vacation for a few more weeks." The Ducks and Golden Eagles will kick off super regional play Friday at PK Park at 5 p.m. PT. Until then, here are three Oral Roberts players to watch, two standout stats regarding the Golden Eagles, and one prediction for how the series will unfold.
