5-Star Safety Trey McNutt Sets Commitment Date
The No. 2 safety in the country is ready to make his decision. 5-star Cleveland (Ohio) Shaker Heights safety Trey McNutt will announce his college commitment on July 19, according to On3βs Hayes Fawcett.
McNutt will choose from a top five of Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Texas A&M. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound defensive back took official visits to each of his finalists with the exception of Ohio State.
The Ducks hosted him on campus for his official visit during their star-studded June 21 weekend after he visited Mike Elko and the Aggies in College Station.
βI had a great time down here Eugene on my official visit,β McNutt told ScoopDuck following his Oregon trip. βFrom the jump they came with the energy. I got off the plane and the whole staff was there. Everybody was there cheering, playing loud music, everything. Just came with energy the whole time. And really, I just had a great time.β

**Trey McNutt breaks down Oregon official visit**
Oregon is trending as the heavy favorite to land McNutt nine days from his decision, as myself, Justin Hopkins and On3βs Steve Wiltfong have all placed predictions for one of the top players in Ohio to play his college football in Eugene.
Oregon has two defensive back commitments in the 2025 class: Conroe (Tex.) cornerback Dorian Brew, and Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh cornerback Brandon Finney. Early this week, I predicted 5-star Galveston (Tex.) Ball safety Jonah Williams to land at Oregon. He has yet to set a decision date.
Lastly, On3βs No. 1 cornerback DJ Pickett has set a commitment date for July 17 and will choose from Oregon, LSU and Miami.
