After three standout seasons at Oregon, former Ducks cornerback Mykael Wright is hoping to begin his pro career.

Wright was not selected in the 2022 NFL Draft and did not immediately receive an undrafted free agent deal like many of his Oregon teammates did. In the days following the draft, Wright’s status was a bit of a mystery, as he was once considered a player capable of being selected in the later rounds of the draft.

But on Monday, James Crepea of the Oregonian/Oregon/Live reported that Wright has accepted a mini-camp invite with the Seattle Seahawks.

Wright came to Oregon as a blue-chip recruit and the second-highest-ranked prospect in the program’s vaunted 2019 singing class. The No. 4-ranked cornerback and No. 41 overall player in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite, Wright made an immediate impact for the Ducks.

As a true freshman in 2019, he was tabbed by The Athletic as a second-team freshman All-American and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns while playing in 14 games.

He built on that early success as a sophomore and stepped into a starting role at cornerback for the Ducks. Wright recorded 25 tackles during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season and led the Pac-12 with nine pass breakups.

In 2021, he recorded 46 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble in 13 games and was an all-conference honorable mention selection.

Kayvon Thibodeaux was the only Oregon player selected in this year’s draft.

Wright is the seventh Oregon player who is known to have signed an undrafted free agent deal following the concussion of the draft. They are as follows:

  • Quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. signed with the Baltimore Ravens
  • Offensive lineman George Moore IV signed with the Green Bay Packers
  • Wide receiver Johnny Johnson III signed with the Houston Texans
  • Safety Verone McKinley III signed with the Miami Dolphins
  • Running back CJ Verdell signed with the Indianapolis Colts
  • Wide receiver Devon Williams signed with the Baltimore Ravens
