College Football is back for week 1 after a wild bunch of week 0 games last weekend. Games kick off today, so what better time to look over the best games of the weekend.

Saturday August 31st:

14 Clemson @ 1 Georgia (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia) – 12pm EST/ 9am PST, ABC & ESPN+

Clemson going on the road essentially at Georgia makes for an interesting matchup considering that clemson has been on a bit of a decline in recent years. They look to be stronger this year however but have to face the juggernaut that is Georgia. A key matchup to watch is Cade Klubnik against Georgia’s secondary, because of his struggles last year. I’m expecting Georgia to win this one rather convincingly against Dabo Swinney.

8 Penn State @ West Virginia – 12pm EST/ 9am PST, FOX

Penn State has had a lot of offensive struggles under James Franklin in particular in the last few seasons. Garrett Greene leads the mountaineers in what is expected to be a high-powered offense against a likely top ten defensive unit again in Penn State. I think this will be a lot closer than expected but Penn State ends up pulling it out in the end.

7 Notre Dame @ 20 Texas A&M – 7:30pm EST/ 4:30pm PST, ABC & ESPN+

Two teams that come into every season overrated, (moreso Texas A&M) make for a very intriguing matchup at Kyle Field. Notre Dame is led by former Duke QB Riley Leonard and Texas A&M is led by Connor Weigman, and both have shown flashes thus far throughout their careers. Both teams are led by a defensive minded coach which will make it even more intriguing to watch. I’m lost for a prediction here truthfully, I don’t see either team doing anything major. My guy is telling me to lean Notre Dame however, so that’s what I’ll roll with.

Sunday September 1st:

23 USC vs 13 LSU (Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, NV) – 7:30pm EST/ 4:30pm PST, ABC & ESPN+

USC and LSU both come in led by “new” quarterbacks that college football fans got a glimpse of last season. These quarterbacks both excelled in their limited playing time as well which I believe has led to them becoming a tad overrated. The Trojans and Tigers both come in after having horrific defense the season prior and are both looking to pick it up on that side of the ball. LSU realistically should win this game without major improvements from USC’s defense.

Monday September 2nd:

Boston College @ 10 Florida State – 7:30pm EST/ 4:30pm PST, ESPN

Florida State is still undefeated in the United States (hang the banner) and looks to try and make their way back to pole position in the ACC. Boston College, led by Thomas Castellanos could spell trouble for the Seminoles if they come out flat like they did in Dublin. Florida State is likely down WR Hykeem Williams again, who is slated to be one of their top receivers. My bet would be that Florida State comes out looking better and wins it convincingly at home.
