Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is unsure if he has played the final game of his college career.

While meeting with reporters following the Ducks’ 34-31 loss to Washington in the Pac-12 title game, Nix was asked if he intends to play in Oregon’s bowl game.

“I knew somebody was gonna ask about this. Can’t we just enjoy the moment right now and enjoy our season?” Nix said. “That’s not today, that decision. I have no idea. I’m looking forward to whatever bowl game is chosen for us and I’m just trying to get over that loss. I’m not really thinking of anything after today.”

Nix finished Friday’s game 21-for-34 (62%) passing for 239 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also ran for 69 yards on six carries.

When it was pointed out to Dan Lanning that Nix’s completion percentage was his lowest in any game this season by a wide margin, the Ducks’ head coach responded with a spirited defense of his quarterback.

“The guy threw for three touchdowns. I thought Bo had a great performance,” Lanning said. “We started off slow early in this game. To have two three-and-outs to start the game off, that put us in a hole. We were playing catch-up a lot of the game. We talked about it at halftime, ‘Hey, we’re going to go and score a touchdown here, defense is going to get a stop, we’re going to get an opportunity to pull ahead.’ We did just that. We weren’t able to maintain that lead.

“Our quarterback gave us a chance tonight.”

During his postgame press conference, Nix was asked how tough the loss was on him and what his thought process was in the final moments of the game.

“Well, football is a tough game. Sometimes you put it all out there and you come up short. There at the end it was just one of those things where you want the moment to last longer than what it can.,” Nix said. “Even though we lost, it was one of those types of games that it was really fun to play in. It was just a shocking end. It’s tough when you’re so used to go, go, go, go, go. When it ends, it just happens very quickly. I’ve got all the respect in the world for (Michael Penix Jr.). He’s played his butt off this year. I respect him a lot because I know how it is to play through some adversity, to play when you’re not necessarily feeling your best. He showed up tonight and he did a really good job of making the explosive play when he needed it.

“That just shows what kind of team (Washington) are. They battled in a lot of games down the stretch and they pulled them all out. So that’s a really good football team. I think what sometimes hurts is when you put it all out there and it’s still not good enough.”
