Over the weekend, Oregon senior quarterback Bo Nix helped carry the No. 8-ranked Ducks to one of the more thrilling wins in recent program history and added another stellar performance to a season that has been filled with them.

Nix is enjoying a career year in his first season in Eugene, and the nation is starting to take notice.

Vegas Insider updated its Heisman odds late Sunday, and Nix saw his respective odds skyrocket.

With Week 8 in the books, Nix now sits at +3,000 to win the Heisman. Those are the sixth-best odds in the nation. Prior to Saturday, he was sitting at +5,000 and had the 14th-best odds in the nation.

Through seven games Nix has thrown for 1,809 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. His 71.5% completion percentage is the fifth-best in the nation. Additionally, he has run 382 yards and eight touchdowns on 48 carries.

Since Oregon’s Week 1 loss at Georgia, Nix has thrown just one interception.

Over the weekend, he delivered arguably his best showing yet in an Oregon uniform as he went 22-for-28 passing (78.6%) with five touchdown throws during the Ducks’ beatdown of then-No. 9 UCLA.

“I don’t think anybody can sit here and watch football right now and watch our quarterback play and tell me he’s not an elite quarterback,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said following Saturday’s win. “This guy’s playing at an extremely high level. He makes great decisions for our team. You can’t watch a football game right now and say that guy’s not elite.

‘He’s an elite competitor. He’s an elite leader. He has phenomenal character. He’s throwing the ball really well. He’s making great decisions. And he’s humbled and I think everybody on our team is excited about his success.”

Marcus Mariota (2014) is the only Oregon player to win the Hesiman. Three others have cracked the top five: LaMichael James (3rd, 2010), Joey Harrington (4th, 2001), and Dennis Dixon (5th, 2007).
