Brandon Dorlus' versatility and 'fanatical effort' have led to career-best season with Oregon Ducks
During the lead-up to the 2023 season, Oregon's coaches and players spoke ad nauseam about the versatility of the program's defensive line room. With a mix of high-caliber veterans and talented newcomers in the fold, Dan Lanning, Tosh Lupoi, and Tony Tuioti each expressed optimism about the Ducks' potential to chop and change lineups in order to exploit matchup advantages. Even with that in mind, though, the positional fluidity that Brandon Dorlus has displayed during his senior season has been unique. Through three games, Dorlus has already racked up a career-high 4.0 sacks and five pass deflections. With 5.5 tackles for loss, he is on pace to set a new career-high in that department, too. Dorlus leads the Ducks with 26 quarterback pressures and 21 hurries. But counting stats hardly tell the story of what he has meant to Oregon's defense this fall.
