Oregon's defense took a major step forward under Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi in 2023. After struggling mightily in multiple key areas last season, the Ducks produced the 11th-best scoring defense in the nation at 17.31 points per game in 2023. In terms of total defense, Oregon ranked 22nd nationally at 320.3 yards per game. Each week, Pro Football Focus releases reports for each FBS game across the country that assign a subjective grade to each player and track how many snaps each player played. Here is a rundown of Oregon's season-long snap counts on the defensive side of the ball, as well as a few other PFF metrics for each position group that help tell the story of the Ducks' season thus far.
