Breakout Candidate: Tight End

And moving along in this series we are ready to talk about our second position group on offense. Which arguably is one of the groups with the least amount of depth on the roster.
Oregon lost a few tight ends to the transfer portal this season but does return Terrance Ferguson who had a very strong 2022-2023 season. He’s definitely not a candidate to be a breakout this season, he had his last year.

Since this group is not an especially large one, we won’t have multiples listed this time around.
Tight End: Kenyon Sadiq
While I’m fully aware Patrick Herbert is still on the roster and he’s approaching ‘now or never’ territory in his career, I’m going with Sadiq. The 2023 signee enrolled early and with Will Stein’s passing attack, I think he’ll be a highly-utilized weapon. He’s got the skillset to move out wide, beat linebackers in space or overpower smaller corners and safeties.
The fact he came in for Winter and had the benefit of the entire Spring and Summer should be a huge boost to his chances in a wide open room. Unless someone is moved into this position group, Sadiq and Herbert are going to have to step up this season. While I’m sure we’ll see plenty of both, I’m banking on Sadiq having the bigger season.
