Class of '24 TE Charlie Crowell Recaps SNL Visit
Oregon prep tight ends are well represented in the 2024 rankings, with 4-stars Joey Olsen and A.J. Pugliano leading the way. The Ducks are expected to miss out on the state’s highest-rated ’22 tight end, and the coaches don’t want history to repeat.
One in-state player who might be flying under the radar is Charlie Crowell, a 2024 3-star out of Summit High in Bend (Ore.). He recently participated in Oregon’s annual Saturday Night Live camp.
The On3 Consensus does not yet list the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder, but 247Sports ranks him as the nation’s No. 30 tight end and No. 13 rising junior in Oregon.
ScoopDuck connected with Crowell to recap his recent trip to Eugene and ask how he moved to the Oregon.
“I was born in the Bay Area north of San Francisco, in a town called Novato,” he said. “I grew up playing basketball and baseball, but once I moved to Oregon I started playing football.”

Crowell said being a multi-sport athlete has benefited him in many ways on the football field.
“I definitely developed great athleticism all around and a high work ethic playing other sports,” he said. “My father and my friends have helped me so much to get where I am today.”
Crowell was generally satisfied with now he did at SNL.
“If I had to rate myself 1 through 10, I would say I performed at a 9,” he said. “I did a lot of individual drills and got a bunch of knowledge from coaches during camp.
“I really appreciate how much the coaches show love and care toward each and every player.”
Crowell is developing a friendship with Oregon tight end coach Drew Mehringer.
“I have talked with coach Mehringer a lot,” he said, “and we talk about football most of the time. But it’s the connection and bond we have built in such a short time that makes me enjoy him so much.”
What’s next for Crowell?
“As of now, I’m not focused on any visits and getting ready for my upcoming season,” he said.
