The first ever 12 team playoff is upon us. The conference championships concluded on Saturday with the committee immediately getting to work to determine the seeding.

With Oregon finishing 13-0 and Big Ten conference champs, there was zero drama about where the Ducks would land on selection Sunday. However there was a lot of questions behind Oregon and who the Ducks would eventually face.

As the 1 seed, Oregon earns a first round bye and will play the winner of the 8/9 seeds. That game will take place in Los Angeles at the Rose bowl on January 1.

The bulk of the discussion centered around whether SMU or Alabama would get in Sunday morning.

Moments ago it was announced on ESPN the Ducks would face the winner of Ohio State and Tennessee. The game will be hosted by Ohio State in Columbus. That figures to be one of the better first round playoff games.

Here are the seeds in order:

  1. Oregon
  2. Georgia
  3. Boise State
  4. Arizona State
  5. Texas
  6. Penn State
  7. Notre Dame
  8. Ohio State
  9. Tennessee
  10. Indiana
  11. SMU
  12. Clemson
