Couisnard, Dante Make NBA Summer League Debuts

by:Collin King07/15/24

Jermaine Couisnard and the New Orleans Pelicans took on the Minnesota Timberwolves, in a game in which Couisnard failed to log any minutes. The Pelicans would then lose a close game 74-81. The Pelicans will play again on Sunday at 6:30 (CST) against the Orlando Magic on NBA TV. Couisnard is certainly an older prospect and it’s hard not to think that impacts his role in the summer league. I however would expect him to see the floor over the next two games, the latter being on Tuesday the 16th against the San Antonio Spurs.

Later in the night N’Faly Dante and the Rockets took on the Los Angeles Lakers. N’Faly got things started with a block on Bronny James at the 7:57 mark in the first quarter, but didn’t get his first bucket until the fourth quarter. N’Faly Dante had another impressive block with 8:57 left in the fourth quarter, and followed that play up with a play that showed great anticipation to get a steal and go coast-to-coast.

The Houston Rockets and N’Faly Dante would win 99-80 over the Los Angeles Lakers in a star-studded game with young talent all over the court. Dante would finish with two points (1-4 FG), seven rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in only fifteen minutes. A great first game for N’Faly on the defensive side of the ball considering the playing time and only picking up one personal foul. He will however need to work on the offensive side of the game going forward. The Rockets are back in action on Sunday against the Washington Wizards and No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr. The game will air on ESPN 2 at 5:00 (CST).
