Oregon is on a bye this week as all of you know. Which means the normal schedule gets interrupted. Instead of his weekly Monday night presser, Lanning spoke on Wednesday following a closed practice. All practices this week are closed to the media FWIW.

Right out of the gate Lanning was asked specifically about Tez Johnson and his availability. Lanning immediately shot down any chance at talking about injuries this week.

Here are his top comments and the video posted below.

On Tez Johnson’s Post:

“Yeah I’m not gonna talk about injuries. You guys will see them on the field when they’re ready to go.”

On Unlimited Official Visits:

“Not necessarily for us. I do think that’s a problem solver for new teams that have a lot of transition. Not really for us.”

On Motivation:

“I do think it’s important to package information in new ways. Ultimately I’d say motivation is overrated. You still have to go out there and perform. Our guys have done a really good job of doing that.”

On Coaching Staff:

“It’s the best staff I’ve ever been a part of. In terms of preparation and self awareness, identifying something we have to improve on. Our offensive staff, our defensive staff, special teams, just our entire staff is phenomenal at that. It’s really important for coaches to be coachable. That’s what I think our coaching staff is elite at.”

On Tight/Tough Wins:

“Ultimately every team I’ve been a part of that has had success has had wins that required effort all the way to the end. It’s certainly valuable for the future.”

On Bye Week Prep:

“There’s a lot of things we can get better at and it’s a focus on us. That’s what this weeks been about. Getting healthy, focusing on ourselves.”
