Dan Lanning speaks with the media after Day 11 of Fall Camp

On Wednesday Dan Lanning met with present media following Oregon’s practice. It was originally scheduled to be an open practice (first 15 minutes) but was changed early morning to closed.

To start off the session Lanning joked with Oregonian reporter James Crepea about being an Ohio State alum and the reason practice was closed. Yesterday Dillon Gabriel made a reference to his Ohio State ties as well.

Enough about James here are the top quotes and the video included below.

Opening Statement:

“Good work day today. Sorry I had to keep you guys out of it, we know James (Crepea) went to Ohio State. So no offense there. But good work. Good practice and certainly enjoyed making climbs the right direction.”

On JT Tuimoaloau & Jack Sawyer:

“Great speed to power guys. They change their technique a lot on the edge. There’s times their up-field, there’s times they close. They play with great violence.”

On OSU LB’s:

“Just really sound. There’s a reason they don’t give up explosive plays. They tackle really well in space. They do a good job communicating. They don’t have scheme errors.”

On recruiting vs Ohio State since entering B1G:

“Certainly helped us. Obviously Oregon has a great product. Ohio State has a great product. When you want to recruit the best players in the nation you’re going to recruit against teams like that at times.”

On Preparing for a big game vs others:

“I try to prepare for every game the same. And certainly everyone knows this game and what the implications are. But it’s a game. It’s the next game which is why it’s the most important one.”

On Being Part of ESPN Gameday:

“Yeah I imagine so.”
