Dan Lanning provides injury update on Oregon cornerback Dontae Manning
Alarm bells were raised over the weekend when Oregon cornerback Dontae Manning was seen leaving practice in a wheelchair.
Manning, a sophomore and former 5-star signee who is expected to compete for a starting job in 2022, was back at practice Tuesday with a large brace on his knee. When meeting with reporters for his post-practice press conference, Ducks’ coach Dan Lanning was asked about Manning’s status.
“He has an injury, going through recovery right now,” Lanning said. “We don’t think it will be a long, long-term deal. But obviously, we’re monitoring it and his safeties first.”
Manning has been working with Oregon’s first-unit defense at outside cornerback during the portions of practice that have been open to reporters this season, with Christian Gonzalez getting the nod at the other outside corner spot. Although, Oregon’s coaches have frequently said this season there are no hard and fast first and second unit groups decided at this point.

On Tuesday, redshirt freshman Darren Barkins worked with the first unit, while Avante Dickerson and Jahlil Florence worked with the second unit.
Manning went through warmups with his pads and helmet on Tuesday and was seen working with Oregon’s limited/injured group during the open portion of practice.
