Dillon Gabriel on Idaho Win: "Practice has been fiery"
Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel met with media Tuesday for Oregon’s first post-practice availability. The experienced quarterback talked about Oregon’s performance in the win vs Idaho and what the team is doing to get better this week.
Gabriel called today’s practice ‘fiery’ and said the Ducks left a lot of points off the board with some execution-based mistakes. Here is some of his top quotes and the full video below.
On film review:
“Just there’s a lot to fix, a lot to clean up. Practice has been fiery. It’s been good. We needed that. You look at the film and you just keep diving in on how to get better.”
On what stood out from the win:
“I thought in the pass game we did a good job of catching and being efficient. Taking what they gave us. I felt like we mixed up a lot of formations which is beneficial to what we want to do.”
On what’s made practice fiery:
“Just in general, pads are smacking. Naturally it’s going to be fiery. Now you’re kind of getting into the thick of things. It’s a progress.”

On taking a step forward:
“For sure, I just think in general. On offense it’s about execution and at times on offense we didn’t execute well. It starts with me.”
On Beating Idaho by Only 14:
“I think there’s a bunch of missed opportunities on our end. Two 4th down conversions we didn’t capitalize on. When you look back after the game you are emotional but then you dive into the film 2-3 times and you realize opportunities were there. We just didn’t capitalize.”
Jhop’s Take:
Dillon didn’t really say much we didn’t already know. As was expected. Oregon did leave a ton of points off the board with penalties and other mistakes. We know the offensive line has to get better and give him more time, but Gabriel also missed quite a few open receivers on Saturday. We can’t expect anything more than for these guys to get after it and practice and make the necessary adjustments and hope we see improvements on Saturday vs Boise.
