Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel had a huge day on Saturday in terms of stats. However his 380 pass yards only translated into 24 points vs Idaho.
Gabriel enters this season as a Heisman candidate given most expect an explosive Oregon offense. The Ducks only scored 14 points through the first three quarters before putting the game to bed in the fourth.
Here are his thoughts on the win and the lack of explosive plays in the offense.
On the Win:
“Stats are one thing. We’re focused on winning. A win is a win but there’s a lot we need to improve on.”
On Improvements:
“Just finishing. Not beating ourselves up. More explosive plays so we’re not in as many third downs.”
On Sacks/Fumble:
“Of course on my end, gotta have two hands on it. That happened and it can’t happen. Would just like to have that one back and get the ball out on time.”

On Pickard at Center:
Solid. We shot ourselves in the foot with alignments with two explosive plays. There’s just things pre-snap we need to clean up. There’s no excuse.
On Hand Injury:
“Hand’s good. I had my real moment of not wearing the red jersey. Little ice and ointment and I’m good. I just hit his head, but I’m good.”
On Lack of Explosive Plays:
“I wouldn’t say disappointed. It’s just like gosh we got a lot of weapons and at times we bit ourselves in the foot. We’ll look back on it and get better.”
