First Quarter

The No. 3 Oregon Ducks took on the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday at Autzen Stadium and delivered a show-stopper for fans. The game started with a bang as Ohio State marched it 75 yards for a touchdown on the opening drive, making the game 7-0 exactly five minutes in.

After an Ohio State fumble from running back Quinshon Judkins gave Oregon the ball at the Ohio State 28-yard line, running back Jordan James broke two nice runs and punched it in to make the score 7-6 after a failed two point conversion with 5:51 left in the first.

Second Quarter

A missed Ducks field goal gave the ball back to the Buckeyes and two long runs from TreVeyon Henderson set up a short-range Judkins touchdown on the ground to make it 14-6 Ohio State. Following a broken screen play, a deep shot to receiver Evan Stewart gave the Ducks first and goal which they converted on a fade pass to Stewart in the corner of the end zone, making it 14-12.

Oregon went onside on the ensuing kickoff and recovered, setting up a field goal to make it 15-14 after a nice intermediate strike from quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Ohio State took its time on the ensuing drive and hit receiver Emeka Egbuka in the end zone, bringing the score to 21-15 with 3:53 left in the half.

After running the ball consistently for several plays, Gabriel hit another deep strike to receiver Tez Johnson, bringing the score to 22-21 Ducks with 1:17 to go in the first half.

Third Quarter

Ohio State’s first drive of the half looked relatively easy as it marched down the field with intermediate passes before hitting a touchdown pass to make it 28-22 early in the third.

Fourth Quarter

A botched Buckeye snap gave Oregon the ball at its own 40 where it worked down the field with a nice balance of runs and short passes before Gabriel kept an option off the right edge that he took 27 yards to put the Ducks up 29-28 with 13:20 to go. Ohio State then put together a solid drive that netted a field goal, making it 31-29 with 6:05 to go.

Not to be outdone, kicker Atticus Sappington hit the go-ahead and eventually game-winning field goal from 19 yards that made it 32-31 with 1:51 left. Ohio State regained possession with the game on the line and the clock expired without another score, giving the Ducks arguably their biggest win in program history.
