The Ducks have put together a very nice No. 4 ranked recruiting class for 2025. Yes I know we’ve mostly moved on to the 2026 class already but we get one last reminder to reflect on the next wave of Ducks.
Oregon went heavy on quality over quantity this year. It was a big point of emphasis the entire recruiting calendar. And because of that quality I think there is a chance this year for more freshmen to early playing time than in previous years. And what backs up my point there is the fact Lanning did not go heavy into the transfer portal this offseason. Which means Lanning is confident in the team he has either in Eugene or coming to Eugene.
Here are my top five signees with the potential to contribute early at Oregon. Remember contribute doesn’t simply mean starting. Really if you find your way into the two-deep regularly you are contributing to this teams overall success.
- WR Dakorien Moore – Any list that doesn’t start with Dakorien Moore should be left unread. It’s not a serious list. But Moore has all of the potential to be an instant impact player at Oregon. He’s not only ultra gifted but he comes into a position of need. There’s very little doubt we’ll see Moore out on the field this season.
- DB Trey McNutt – Why I list McNutt ahead of Offord is simply because of his versatility. I’m not sure Oregon has a definitive Nickel/Star on its roster and McNutt could be in line to help with that. But he’s not just a one-trick pony. He could be considered for all three deep defensive back positions and factor heavy into the 2-deep rotation.
- DB Na’Eem Offord – Offord is coming in as one of Oregon’s top signees in 2025. So it stands to reason why you could consider him very likely to see the field this season. Ultimately Oregon has what I believe to be a favorable schedule which could lead to a lot of time for these young guys to get some run.
- OT Ziyare Addison – This one comes largely based on need. Oregon is not especially deep at offensive tackle, evident by the Ducks going after two huge transfer portal tackles. The reality is there will still need to be depth behind those experienced guys and Addison could work his way into the two-deep depending on how he progresses this offseason.
- TE Vander Ploog – Again another choice based on the needs of this team. Ploog could find himself higher on the depth chart than he expects based on numbers. We know Oregon likes to run 12 personnel (2 TE’s) often. Sure Kenyon is here and Jamari Johnson will transfer in but there is easily room for Ploog to crack that two-deep.
