Five players who could be key for Oregon baseball's continued success in 2024
The Oregon Ducks fell agonizingly short of reaching the College World Series for the first time since 1954. After a thrilling run through the Pac-12 Tournament and the Nashville Regional, the Ducks' season ended last weekend with an 11-6 loss to Oral Roberts at the Eugene Super Regional. Now, Oregon will begin re-tooling ahead of 2024 as a significant number of key players are set to move on from the program. Multi-year starters Drew Cowley, Tanner Smith, and Gavin Grant have exhausted their eligibility. Juniors Sabin Ceballos, Colby Shade, and Rikuu Nishida are likely to be selected in the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft and will have to weigh their pro futures. Right-handed starters Jace Stoffal and Isaac Ayon, both of whom deal with injuries this spring, could also potentially be selected. The Ducks' top two relievers, Josh Mollerus and Matt Dallas, are out of eligibility. Next year's version of Oregon will look drastically different than this year's version. Here are five returning players who could be key to the Ducks' continued success next spring.
