Oregon has now gotten back-to-back positive news updates with regards to one of its most important recruiting targets.

Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell was seemingly headed towards a potential commitment. And with that news it didn’t bode well for Oregon. The Ducks have not had Cantwell on campus in a number of months, which is a lifetime in today’s recruiting calendar.

However the Nixa (Mo.) standout quickly moved up his official visit to Oregon originally to the weekend of April 18. Per On3’s Steve Wiltfong it has now been moved to the weekend of April 25, which is of course the weekend of Oregon’s Spring game. (April 26)

This is a huge positive development for Oregon. Not only will that be a high-profile weekend, it will give Oregon to show Cantwell its team and the energy from the Spring game.

Right now Oregon’s biggest threats for the five-star appears to be Georgia and Miami. And both schools are considered a serious threat for the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit.

Cantwell is also looking at each programs track and field teams as part of his recruitment.

Dan Lanning has been a mainstay in Cantwell’s recruitment for the past year. He has been a priority of this staff hoping to land a future tackle to come in and compete for the starting job in two seasons.

Cantwell previously called Lanning his favorite head coach.

“I think my favorite head coach still to this day has been Dan Lanning. I think everyone can understand. Great guy. Missouri guy.”

At the moment this is being considered his final visit ahead of a potential decision.

Cantwell has now locked in a commitment date of April 30. Ohio State is also being considered among his finalists.
