Former Oregon baseball star Spencer Steer named to MLB All-Star Futures Game

Former Oregon star Spencer Steer is in the midst of a breakout season at the minor league level. Now, the Minnesota Twins’ prospect has been selected to the 2022 MLB All-Star Futures Game, where he will join baseball’s brightest young stars.
Steer, who the Twins selected in the third round in 2019, is one of seven American League infielders who were named to the Futures Game on Thursday.
During the 2022 season, Steer is slashing .273/ .356./.561 in 71 games across Double-A and Triple-A. After displaying minimal power during his college career, he has emerged as one of the more potent power bats in minor league baseball this season.
Steer’s 19 home runs are tied for the 15th-most in the minors, and his 22 doubles are tied for the 18th-most. Since being promoted to Triple-A St. Paul, Steer has launched 11 homers in just 36 games.
