Former Oregon standout Chase Cota has found his next career stop.

Cota, a Medford, Ore., native who spent the 2022 season with the Ducks, is singing with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

A 6-foot-4, 200-pound wideout who earned all-conference honorable mention honors during his lone season at Oregon, Cota tallied a career-high 36 receptions for 497 yards and caught three touchdown passes last season despite missing five games with a knee injury.

He did not receive an invite to the 2023 NFL Draft Combine but performed well at Oregon’s pro day last March. His 4.50-second 40-yard dash would have tied the 23rd-fastest time at the Combine among receivers. His 37.5-inch vertical would have tied for the 13th-highest jump at the positions.

Cota ultimately was not selected during the 2023 NFL Draft, but signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions.

He flashed some bright moments during the preseason and caught a touchdown pass and caught a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 20.

But Cota was waived with an injury settlement on Aug. 30.

Throughout the month of September, Cota has been seen at the Hatfield Dowlin-Complex working out during Oregon practice on several occasions.

A former 4-star signee in the 2018 class, Cota signed with UCLA out of South Medford High School (Ore.) and played four seasons with the Bruins. He transferred to Oregon ahead of the 2022 season and proved to be one of Bo Nix’s top targets.

Cota caught the go-ahead touchdown for the Ducks in their Holiday Bowl victory over North Carolina last December to close out the season.
