Former Oregon EDGE Jabril McNeill announces transfer destination
After beginning his career at the University of Oregon, former Ducks’ outside linebacker Jabril McNeill has found his next career destination.
On Tuesday, McNeill announced that he has committed to transfer to Troy.
McNeill spent two seasons at UO before opting to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 5, 2022. He spent the 2023 season at Louisburg College, where he recorded 12.0 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks in nine games.
A former 4-star recruit, McNeill was the No. 360 overall player in the class of 2021 according to the On3 Consensus. He saw plenty of playing time as a true freshman in 2021 and played in all 14 of the Ducks’ games after making a position switch to inside linebacker midway through the season.
During Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi’s first season in Eugene in 2022, McNeill made the move back to outside linebacker but failed to carve out a role.
McNeill played in just three games in 2022 and did not play a defensive snap, according to Pro Football Focus.
A Raleigh, North Carolina, native, McNeill held offers from Oklahoma, Tennesee, Auburn, and countless others out of high school.
More on Oregon’s offseason outlook
Few programs in all of college football experienced a greater amount of transfer portal activity than Oregon did during the 2023 cycle.
A total of 30 Oregon scholarship players entered the portal during the previous two transfer windows — 21 in the winter and nine in the spring. Meanwhile, the Ducks added 14 scholarship players during that same period.
Many of their portal additions — including receiver Tez Johnson, cornerback Khyree Jackson, safety Evan Williams, and right tackle Ajani Cornelius — locked down starting jobs and played key roles during the 2023 season.

This offseason, Oregon will once again look for opportunities to improve its roster by way of the portal.
During the month of December, the Ducks made several significant portal additions — including that of former Oklahoma star quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
