After a standout six-year playing career at Oregon, former Ducks’ offensive lineman Ryan Walk is returning to the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex in a coaching capacity.

Walk has joined Dan Lanning’s staff as an assistant offensive line coach, according to his Twitter bio.

Walk will work alongside second-year offensive line coach A’Lique Terry and offensive analyst Mike Cavanaugh. During the 2023 season, Oregon’s offensive line was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award after allowing just five sacks — the fewest in the nation.

A Eugene native who starred at Sheldon High during his prep career, Walk joined the Ducks as a walk-on in 2017. He was not ranked as a high school prospect by any major recruiting database.

Ahead of the 2020 season, though, he was awarded a scholarship at Oregon and locked down the starting right guard job that fall for a Ducks’ team that won the Pac-12 title and reached the Fiesta Bowl.

Walk garnered AP first-team all-conference honors that season.

During the 2021 season, he earned honorable mention all-conference honors while splitting time at right guard and center.

During his senior season, Walk spent time at left guard, center, and right guard and was a key figure for an offensive line that was hindered by injuries. He once again earned honorable mention all-conference honors after posting a 78.5 Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade.

Walk did not receive an invite to the NFL Combine, but had a standout day at Oregon’s Pro Day that spring.

His 31-inch vertical would have been the eight-best at the combine and his 9-foot broad jump would have tied for 17th-best among interior offensive linemen. Walk’s 40-yard dash time of 5.10 would have matched the 13th-fastest time at the Combine.

Although he went undrafted during the 2023 NFL Draft, Walk received a mini-camp invite with the Jacksonville Jaguars last May.

Walk joins Oregon’s staff after former graduate assistant Cutter Leftwich, who was heavily involved with the Ducls’ offensive line group, left this offseason to become the offensive line coach at North Texas.
