Former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough has settled in as the starting signal-caller at Texas Tech since transferring to Lubbock two seasons ago.

On Wednesday, Shough helped lead the Red Raiders to an emphatic upset win over Ole Miss in the Texas Bowl.

Shortly after the game ended, Shough announced that he isn’t closing the book on his college career yet — and set the stage for a showdown with his former school next season.

Shough told ESPN’s Ian Fitzsimmons that he plans to return to Texas Tech for his sixth college season in 2023.

Shough and the Red Raiders are scheduled to face Oregon for a Week 2 matchup in Lubbock on Sept. 9 next season.

A former 4-star recruit, Shough was the No. 122 overall prospect and No. 12 quarterback in the class of 2018, according to the On3 Consensus.

As a sophomore in 2020, he locked down the Ducks’ starting quarterback job and flashed plenty of promise. Shough passed for 1,559 yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions in seven games during the pandemic-shortened campaign.
